The much anticipated premiere of THE FOREST HILLS horror film took place on Saturday, March 11 at the Smodcastle Cinemas owned by the well-known director Kevin Smith. In attendance were Scott Goldberg (writer/director of the film), Scott B. Hasen (cinematographer, executive producer) and Kevin Smith. There were also members of the cast and crew which included Wes Lee (Lou), Elliott Dreznick (Elliott, executive producer), Chiko Mendez III (Rico). Edward Furlong who plays Billy in the film was part of the Q&A session with audience questions and sign autographs.
Shelly Duvall and other stars of the film that were not in attendance did participate via videoconferencing. The sold out crowd was treated to the first public viewing of the film (which still has a Indiegogo campaign up here, if anyone is interested in backing the film and picking up some killer perks.
THE FOREST HILLS marks the return of Shelly Duvall to acting. She returns after twenty years to play Mama in the film. Other cast members of the horror genre include Marianne Hagan (Stake Land, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers), Dee Wallace (Cujo, Critters, The Howling), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2) and Stacey Nelkin (Halloween 3: Season of the Witch).
For those who are not aware the film follows Rico (Chiko Mendez) who is tormented by nightmarish visions after enduring head trauma while camping in the Catskill woods. Billy (Edward Furlong) creates a reality of horror for him by persuading Rico to go along with his beliefs which delve him deeper into despair.
