R.I.P. – Wonderful English Character Actor DAVID WARNER Has Died!
Super sad day, as we have to report the death of legendary English character actor DAVID WARNER, who has died.
Warner’s family revealed the actor died on Sunday in London from complications of a cancer-related illness. He was 80. “He will be missed hugely by us, his family and friends, and remembered as a kind-hearted, generous and compassionate man, partner and father, whose legacy of extraordinary work has touched the lives of so many over the years. We are heartbroken,” the statement continued.
The actor was well-known for his memorable performances in The Omen and Tron.
The actor made his big screen debut with a supporting role in the 1963 film Tom Jones, starring Albert Finney. He went on to play in over 200 films including The Sea Gull 1968, Cross Of Iron 1977, The Thirty Nine Steps 1978, The Island 1980, Time Bandits 1981, Tron 1982, Hanna’s War 1988, Titanic 1997, and most recently in Mary Poppins Returns 2018.
He appeared in numerous genre films including From Beyond The Grave 1974, The Omen 1976, Nightwing 1979, Time After Time 1979, The Company of Wolves 1984, My Best Friend Is a Vampire 1987, Waxwork 1988, Pulse Pounders 1988, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier 1989, Grave Secrets 1989, Cast a Deadly Spell (TV Movie) 1991, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country 1991, Body Bags (TV Movie) 1993, Necronomicon: Book of Dead 1993, In the Mouth of Madness 1994, Scream 2 1997, Planet of the Apes 2001, and several others.
He also made several television appearances over the years in shows such as Remington Steele (TV Series) 1983, Hart to Hart (TV Series) 1983, Twin Peaks (TV Series) 1991, Tales from the Crypt (TV Series) 1992, Star Trek: The Next Generation (TV Series) 1992, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (TV Series) 1993, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (TV Series) 1994, Babylon 5 (TV Series) 1994, Doctor Who: Dreamland (TV Mini Series short) 2009, Doctor Who (TV Series) 2013, and too many others to mention.
The actor was twice married and divorced, first to Harriet Lindgren (1969-72), then to Sheilah Kent (1979-2005).
His survivors include his son Luke and daughter-in-law Sarah and his partner Lisa Bowerman.
David Warner has a special place in our hearts for his many roles in the horror and sci-fi genres when we were growing up. He may be gone, but will never be forgotten.
