R.I.P. – Goodfellas Actor PAUL SORVINO Dies!
In the second death report of today, we’re sad to say that American actor PAUL SORVINO has passed away! Sorvino, the father of Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite), died Monday of natural causes, his wife, Dee Dee, announced he was 83.
Publicist Roger Neal said he died at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
“Our hearts are broken, there will never be another Paul Sorvino, he was the love of my life and one of the greatest performers to ever grace the screen and stage,” she said.
The gregarious and affable actor was a star in film and television for over 50 years. He was probably best known for his mobster role in Martin Scorsese’s GoodFellas. He played in numerous giant roles such films as The Day of the Dolphin 1973, Oh, God! 1977, Reds 1981, Dick Tracy 1990, The Firm 1993, Nixon 1995, Romeo + Juliet 1996, Bulworth 1998, and many, many more.
He had a handful of genre appearances including roles in The Stuff 1985, The Rocketeer 1991, Repo! The Genetic Opera 2008, The Devil’s Carnival 2012, Jersey Shore Shark Attack (TV Movie) 2012, Airship Dracula (TV Mini Series) 2012, Sicilian Vampire 2015, Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival 2016.
Sorvino was a staple in many TV series over the years, some of which are The Streets of San Francisco (TV Series) 1976, Today’s F.B.I. (TV Series) 1981, Moonlighting (TV Series) 1986, Murder, She Wrote (TV Series) 1989, Law & Order (TV Series) 1991, That’s Life (TV Series) 2000, to name a few.
Many might not know that Sorvino was A respected tenor who realized a dream when he performed for the New York Opera at Lincoln Center in 2006.
Paul Sorvino will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fans.
