From The Press Release

“The Chicago-based three-piece create that kind of axe-blade riff savagery that makes you not give a shit if your neighbors are watching as you mosh around your living room with a bomber of High Life. Their debut album, Sympathy For The Ignorant, definitely lives up to its name, yanking the listener out of their mental rat race and sending them to the depths of their reptile brain via a swift kick in the ass…” — MetalSucks

April 1st, 2022 – Sympathy For The Ignorant, the thunderous debut full-length from Chicago-based thrash trio MISFIRE, is out TODAY on MNRK Heavy! In celebration of the record’s official unveiling, the band has unleashed a video for “War Of Mine,” now playing at MetalSucks.

Conjuring old-school flavored thrash metal devastation with the kind of bombastic firepower that could wake the dead, MISFIRE creates more of a racket than bands twice their size, unleashing song after song of unrelenting savagery. It’s music that could have arrived in the thrash golden age of 1986, when bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Dark Angel, and Sodom delivered crucial records. And yet MISFIRE is forward-thinking, injecting modern metal mastery into their brew for a potent and timeless sound.

“‘It’ll flatten you!,” declares Metal Injection of the record. “Everything sounds absolutely massive here,” agrees Distorted Sound, adding, “that may well be the record’s greatest triumph… MISFIRE have been able to capture the potency of many of the genre’s most pioneering records and inject it with the kind of crisp clarity that wasn’t often available to bands back in 1986.”

Comments drummer James Nicademus, “It feels amazing to finally have this record out and to be able to share it with the world. We are really proud of this one and we can’t wait to play these songs live!”

Latest single, “War Of Mine,” merges classic era thrash akin to early Megadeth with groove metal reminiscent of Pantera into a thundering symphony of horn raising rage!

Notes MetalSucks, “The Chicago-based three-piece create that kind of axe-blade riff savagery that makes you not give a shit if your neighbors are watching as you mosh around your living room with a bomber of High Life. Their debut album, Sympathy For The Ignorant, definitely lives up to its name, yanking the listener out of their mental rat race and sending them to the depths of their reptile brain via a swift kick in the ass…The band’s new video for ‘War Is Mine’ locks down this vibe with perfect simplicity. Sure, it’s a performance footage video — but it’s a performance footage video set in the middle of a ring of motorcycles at night… You don’t want to see MISFIRE in a nice club or a youth center, you want to watch them blast a crew of tattooed felons in the desert… You want it to feel grimy and ground-level, like you do in your more fun moments.”

Captured in a small studio and engineered by vocalist/bassist Sean Coogan, MISFIRE’s Sympathy For The Ignorant is free from click-tracks and other unnecessary frills, projecting the purity of what three musicians raised on Pantera and the Big 4 sound like in a room together. The record is heavy, brawny, and confident, filled with the kind of earworm thrash metal riffs that sends aspiring players to the guitar store.

Sympathy For The Ignorant is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find ordering options at THIS LOCATION.

Armed with the attitude and songs to follow in the footsteps of Slayer, Metallica, and Lamb Of God, the three men of MISFIRE are heavy metal lifers. “I started playing drums when I was eleven, and ever since, it’s all I talk about,” says drummer James Nicademus. “[Vocalist/guitarist] Jay [Johnson] and I started jamming together at ages twelve and thirteen.”

In just a short couple of years, MISFIRE quickly shared the stage with thrash legends Sacred Reich and modern throwback bands like Iron Reagan and Warbringer. As long-running tastemakers Metal Crypt wrote in a review of Sympathy For The Ignorant, “these fellows are ready for the big leagues.”

“Whatever happens, we’re going to be here for a long time because we can’t live without doing this shit,” Nicademus declares. “All we want is to make records, tour, and have a good time doing it.” MISFIRE is poised to give the world a much-needed dose of Windy City whiplash. Get ready.

About Michael Juvinall (5945 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
