Nicolas Cage To Play Count Dracula in Universal’s New Monster Movie RENFIELD!

In some inspired casting, Universal Pictures has set Nicolas Cage to portray Count Dracula in their new monster movie, RENFIELD!

The film stars Nicholas Hoult in the lead role with Cage portraying his nemesis as the accursed Count. Stand-up comedian Awkwafina was just cast. She will play a character who teams with Hoult’s Renfield to take on the vampire king.

Renfield will be directed by Chris McKay (The Tomorrow War) which is based on an original story outline from Robert Kirkman. Ryan Ridley wrote the script.

The film is set to begin shooting in early 2022 in New Orleans.

The character of Renfield first appeared in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula as a patient in an asylum obsessed with drinking blood, deluded into thinking he will find immortality via his vampire master.

It is to be set in modern-day environments and will not be a period piece.
