This week on GIMME METAL Radio:
Dee Snider on Fool Metal Jacket w/ Will Carroll – ‘80s heavy metal pioneer Dee Snider will appear on today’s episode of Fool Metal Jacket with Will Carroll! Tune in as the two chat about everything from Snider’s new album Leave A Scar, stories from the ‘80s, his duet with Cannibal Corpse vocalist Corpsegrinder, and so much more. Be sure to join the Live Chat if you wanna rock! Can’t make the first airing? Check out the re-airing Wednesday, August 18th at 7:00pm ET / 4:00pm PT.
Possessed Guest DJ Special – Vocalist Jeff Becerra is back! Possessed’s Seven Churches debut was unleashed in 1985, and not only opened the gates for death metal (Becerra coined the term itself in 1983), but weighed in with profound impact on legions of forward-thinking musicians for decades to follow. Recorded during the band’s junior high school spring break (!), Seven Churches opens with a lift from the version of “Tubular Bells,” famously used in The Exorcist blasting into the track of the same name. From then on, the world is greeted with one of the most relentless, maniacal metal records of the 1980s — one that has rightly earned classic status. GIMME METAL’s Vinyl Club subscription series offered the opportunity to once again own this master work on vinyl (in exclusive red wax plus a collectable GIMME METAL pin: shop.gimmeradio.com/pages/gimme-metal-vinyl-club)! Becerra has become a regular at GIMME METAL and again takes listeners on a tour of his record parlor with an exclusive DJ session. He’ll also be in the Live Chat! Don’t miss it!
Hooded Menace Guest DJ Special – With the immaculate songwriting skills and the perfect balance between harsh death metal fueled outbursts and exquisite melodic melancholy, Hooded Menace unleashes skeletal horror and somber despair onto their craving audience with sixth album, The Tritonus Bell, set for release via Season Of Mist. Hooded Menace were formed in Joensuu, Finland in 2007 by guitarist Lasse Pyykkö, who had also performed in the Finnish cult death metal band Phlegethon. Influenced by the likes of early Candlemass and Cathedral as well as Paradise Lost, Asphyx, Autopsy, and Winter, the band’s lyrics are often inspired by the classic 1970s Spanish horror movie series The Blind Dead. With The Tritonus Bell, the band threw in more classic ‘80s heavy metal, resulting in the most uptempo Hooded Menace album with the catchiest song material to date! GIMME is pleased to welcome the band to their first guest DJ special.
Wolves In The Throne Room Guest DJ Special – Returning with Primordial Arcana (out August 20th on Relapse Records), the mighty Wolves In The Throne Room retreat to the woods of the Northwest and carve out an awesome opus of progressive black metal that is at once uncompromising, genuine, and focused. Leadoff track “Mountain Magick” sets the august tone with alpine guitar melodies cresting skyward in triumph. “Spirit Of Lightning” returns briefly to the earthly plane as a tribute to the human connections forged in music. Meanwhile, “Primal Chasm (Gift Of Fire)” is an explosion of cosmic grandeur, a symphonic rendering of the hermetic maxim “as above, so below.” A reference to the band’s ongoing reach back to the most ancient, archetypal energies, Primordial Arcana cements the band’s legacy as one of US black metal’s most daring, unique, and quintessential acts. Join co-founding drummer Aaron Weaver for his GIMME METAL takeover.
Full Terror Assault Festival Preview – The cozy confines of the Hogrock Campground in Cave In Rock, Illinois couldn’t be a more aptly-titled locale for what looks to be a massive blast of a festival! Full Terror Assault hits hard September 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th with a stellar lineup that includes Exodus, M.O.D., Weedeater, Misery Index, Nunslaughter, and tons more! Denver-based gore/thrash fiends Axeslasher are there too, and their frontman Professor Pizza takes GIMME on a guided tour of the upcoming festivities! More at fullterrorassault.com, axeslasher.com.

About Michael Juvinall (5323 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
