Exclusive Video Interview with DIVA SATANICA Frontwoman of Death/Thrashers NERVOSA!

Interviewed by Michael Juvinall – Horror Patch 01/22/2021

Brazilian all-female death-thrash powerhouse NERVOSA has just released its fourth full-length album, Perpetual Chaos on January 22nd on Napalm Records.

The band was formed in 2010 by Brazilian lead guitarist Prika Amaral, who is the sole remaining original member. In April 2020, Amaral parted ways with the rest of the band and as they say, cleaned house. No details as to why this happened but Amaral brought in new members vocalist Diva Satanica (Bloodhunter), Italian bassist Mia Wallace (Abbath) and Greek drummer Eleni Nota. Together the new iteration of Nervosa collaborated to write and record the band’s fourth album, Perpetual Chaos.

New vocalist Diva Satanica (aka Rocío Vázquez) resides in Spain. She is such a fascinating woman with quite the backstory. She has been the vocalist of the Spanish melodic death metal band Bloodhunter since 2012 and will split her time between the two bands.

She has a day job because as we all know the pandemic has been Hell for many professions, musicians being one of them. She is a psychiatric nurse at a facility in Madrid. Not a bad day job don’t ya think. Satanica also is an alternative model and a writer who contributes to one of the largest rock/metal magazines in Spain – La Heavy.

In 2017 she gained recognition for being on La Voz, the Spanish version of The Voice as the first contestant to sing with her guttural growls and screams.

Her work on Nervosa’s new album is incredible and I foresee Diva Satanica and Nervosa exploding in popularity in the future. She is an extremely fascinating woman and it was a complete honor to chat with her about joining Nervosa, her background, singing style, and the new album, Perpetual Chaos. About Michael Juvinall (6472 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
