Nightwish Bassist/Vocalist Marko Hietala Resigns From Band After 20 Years!
On the bad news front, we have to tell you guys that symphonic metal giants NIGHTWISH announced the shocking news today that bassist/vocalist Marko Hietala has resigned from the band. Hietala is a huge fan favorite and the news is disconcerting to say the least and left fans wondering about the future of the band. Get all the details regarding Hietala’s exit below.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing more about this in the near future from their label, Nuclear Blast Records and whatnot.
The band says they will continue on with a session bass player for their planned upcoming tour. IMO their last few albums have not been very good. Nothing like the band’s stuff from their early days. But, the addition of singer Floor Jansen was the best thing to happen to the band in quite a while, but the album’s since she joined the band haven’t lived up to her potential. Now, with the loss of Hietala, it might mean a grim future for the band. Let’s hope not.
