From The Press Release

We know Halloween isn’t for another ten days, but by now you should be jugular-deep in your horror marathons. Besides, anytime is a good time for undisputed terror classics. This week, it’s all treats and no tricks as we have three new posters for some true icons of the genre.

First up, We Buy Your Kids continue their supreme domination of all things as they go up against John Carpenter’s 1978 masterpiece, HALLOWEEN. There’s a mastery of technique, color, and texture on full display as WBYK have yet again delivered a stunning poster that’s unlike any other take on Carpenter’s iconic bogeyman. There’s really not much else to say. We adore this, and we adore WBYK.

We’re also excited to release a new poster by Sam Wolfe Connelly for “the super shocker of the century,” the great William Castle’s HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL! Sam originally planned to release this poster at HorrorHound earlier in the year, but… y’know. While we’re bummed that show was canceled, we’re also the exact opposite of bummed because now we get to partner with Sam for the release.

The film features Vincent Price as an eccentric millionaire who invites five people to a haunted house party for a chance at winning $10,000 each… if they survive the night. Despite fairly campy scares, Sam’s artwork for the film is both earnest and horrifying. There’s an authenticity and reverence for one of the original haunted house films while also featuring genuinely nightmarish artwork.

And then there’s the delicately understated lupine lunacy of Timothy Pittides‘ poster for THE OMEN. Taking a hard left from the well-traveled route of the film’s Satanic imagery, Timothy has executed a subtle, intricately detailed study in the darkest example of nature vs. nurture.

When Rob Jones first approached me about THE OMEN, my brain went in a million different directions. Any time I consider a licensed property, my first thought is ‘How do I do this in a way that is unique in concept, and to me?’

The film is littered with memorable visuals, many of which propel it beyond its genre, and into the realm of pop culture consciousness. Ultimately, rather than recreating a literal scene, I wanted to portray something that occurs outside the frames of the film. Something sinister in nature with a hint of macabre beauty: Damien’s entrance into our world. This idea felt as natural as it did disturbing.

Inking this beast of an image took close to 175 hours, and includes 55 color layers done by hand. The artwork was rendered larger than I normally do to make sure all the dotwork stayed within correct proportions when elevated to poster size. It was tedious, but well worth it in the end.” – Timothy Pittides

About Michael Juvinall (6911 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
