Horror Patch’s HALLOWEEN MONSTER MASH – Day 18: The Host!

In this holiday feature, we will showcase the best monster movies ever made during each day of the month, leading up to Halloween.

DAY 18

THE HOST (2006)

Careless American military personnel dump chemicals into South Korea’s Han River. Several years later, a creature emerges from the tainted waters and sinks its ravenous jaws into local residents. When the creature abducts their daughter (Ah-sung Ko), a vendor (Song Kang-ho) and his family decide that they are the only ones who can save her.

The Host is a really good South Korean monster movie directed by Bong Joon-ho (Parasite). This film is yet another example of the burgoning Korean film industry that has produced many outstanding films of the past 20 years or more.

The monster was created mostly by CGI on film but still makes for a very cool creature. The Host is another film on this list that has achieved cult status since its initial release. Seek this one out, you definitely need to give this wonderful film a watch.

About Michael Juvinall (6471 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
