Horror Patch’s HALLOWEEN MONSTER MASH – Day 13: Slither!

In this holiday feature, we will showcase the best monster movies ever made during each day of the month, leading up to Halloween.

DAY 13

SLITHER (2006)

Wheelsy is a small town where not much happens and everyone minds his own business. No one notices when evil slips in quietly but, when people find mutilated livestock and a woman goes missing, Sheriff Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion) discovers an alien organism that threatens to devour all life on Earth.

Slither is another film that didn’t do well on its initial theatrical release but has since become something of a cult classic. The film was James Gunn’s (Guardians of the Galaxy) directorial debut. This film is a black comedy/sci-fi/horror piece that will grow on you the more you watch it. It’s a great creature feature with effects that are out of this world (pun intended).

It has a great young all-star cast before some of them were stars. Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, and Michael Rooker are great in the movie. Slither was an early indication of what director James Gunn was capable of and he obviously went on to bigger things.

I keep using the phrase, this is such a fun movie but it’s really true with Slither. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.

About Michael Juvinall (4132 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
