Award-winning actress and filmmaker Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween) has announced she has signed a three-year, first-look production deal with Blumhouse for her own shingle, Comet Pictures.
The production deal includes both film and television projects.
The two entities are in the process of developing their first horror feature. Mother Nature is the film’s title and it reportedly centers on climate change.
Curtis is directing and co-writing the film along with Russell Goldman, Comet Pictures new Head of Development.
According to Curtis, “I’m 61 and my motto now is: ‘If not now, when, if not me, who?’ I’m excited to have a creative home to explore my own ideas and others. Jason and his team have made me feel welcome. Comet is ready to bring these stories to screen life.”
Jason Blum, Blumhouse CEO and Founder reports, “Jamie is a force of nature and was a real partner on Halloween. So it’s both an honor and incredibly apt that she’s making her first feature film as a director with Mother Nature.”
Curtis recently wrapped production on the last two installments of the Halloween franchise, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends. Those films will be released in October of this year and October 2021.
