New Shining Horror Series OVERLOOK Greenlighted by HBO Max!

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions will produce a new horror series for HBO Max. OVERLOOK, inspired by Stephen King’s The Shining, has been greenlighted by the network.

Horror-thriller Overlook, inspired by and featuring iconic characters from King’s The Shining, explores the untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction.

Castle Rock’s co-creator and executive producer Dustin Thomason and co-executive producer Scott Brown are negotiating to write Overlook.

The Shining, based on Stephen King’s novel was first adapted by Stanley Kubrick in 1980 into the famous horror film starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall. Then in 1997, it was adapted again into a television miniseries starring Steven Weber and Rebecca De Mornay. Finally, there was a big-screen sequel just last year, Doctor Sleep, based on the King novel and directed by Mike Flanigan. It starred Ewan McGregor.

About Michael Juvinall (6643 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
