Lionsgate studio has landed a timely spec script in auction with an intense bidding war for the zombie pandemic horror film, 16 STATES! The film is described as something akin to a road trip during a zombie pandemic or a similar story to Will Smith’s I Am Legend.

Genre filmmaker Fede Álvarez (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead) has been hired to direct the film.

Details surrounding the plot are thin, but this is what we have, “a pandemic, this time with zombies, with a story of a mother trying to reach her family at the center of it”.

The script was co-written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo Entertainment are producing, along with Requa, Ficarra and Charlie Gogolak via their Zaftig Films. Álvarez, Shintaro Shimosawa and Rodolfo Sayagues of Bad Hombre are also producers.

That is really all the details we have at this time but we will keep our eye on this film and let readers know when more develops on this film.

About Michael Juvinall (6039 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
