The next band needs no introduction it is England’s finest Goth/Doom band MY DYING BRIDE and it’s their 14th full-length record to date. MY DYING BRIDE was formed in 1990 , the year the apartheid ended as well as the Soviet Union. Everyone that knows the band knows that their sound is a dark, tremendously sad thing of beauty. Melancholic to the core, yet not always on the soft side musically. A few magazines touched upon private low points of the last few years, I will not because I don’t want to strive too far from the music. “Your Broken Shore” is an excellent example of how you write a sad song for people to interpret with their own experiences (I like the song but I don’t know what story lies beneath). I have to admit I know only a little bit about MY DYING BRIDE as I listened to power metal all through the 90`s until maybe 2010. Which makes me a late bloomer (doomer???). As I read the press text and listen to the record I come to realize that the struggle to bring this record to the light of day is present in every syllable and every word Stainthorpe sings if I understood it right “The Ghost Of Orion” was a thing that had to be born no matter how hard it was to give birth to it and I am happy MY DYING BRIDE overcame those obstacles and created “The Ghost Of Orion”. This is a truly remarkable piece of music that just convinced me to get the 13 pre-cursing records.
