Iconic Italian composer Fabio Frizzi has a new album out. From director Lucio Fulci’s famed horror classic, The Beyond comes the new soundtrack album, The Beyond: Composer’s Cut, out now on Cadabra Records. One of the tracks is streaming now on Decibel Magazine site. Check it out below.
From The Press Release
Following Cadabra Records’ recent unveiling of The Beyond: Composer’s Cut – a recreation one of the most iconic horror scores ever, Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond – the label presents three new limited singles with alternate takes to some of the score’s standout tracks. The three singles are to see release in conjunction with the upcoming tour where Fabio Frizzi brings The Beyond: Composer’s Cut to audiences across North America with more than a month of live performances on the Frizzi 2 Fulci, The Beyond Composer’s Cut Tour. With the news, Decibel Magazine is hosting an exclusive stream of one of the alternate singles.
The Beyond: Composer’s Cut was released in mid-October as a deluxe 2xLP pressed on 160-gram colored vinyl. Cadabra is now well-known for their high quality deluxe packaging, and The Beyond is one of the label’s most fantastic releases to date, housed in a deluxe heavy weight tip-on gatefold jacket, original artwork by Jeremy Hush based around the movie’s key character Schweick as well as a 4-panel foldout insert, an 11×11 insert, a huge 24×36 poster, as well as exclusive liner notes by Fabio Frizzi himself.
Now, the label has created three new singles with alternative versions of three of the score’s movements. Each of the three vinyl-only 7″ singles bear at least two tracks, presented in a one-time pressing of 1000 copies each specifically for the upcoming tour. One features three singles: “Spiders Attack (Alternative Mix),” “Blood Foam,” and an unreleased cut from the sessions. The second features “The Return Of Zweick (Alternative Mix),” and “Justice From The Past.” The third 7″ presents “John’s Disbelief (Alternative Mix)” and “Emily Appears To Liza.” As with the LP set, the new singles feature newly commissioned art by Jeremy Hush.
In addition to the tour-only singles, Cadabra will have a tour variant of The Beyond: Composer’s Cut 2x LP set, pressed on natural white vinyl in an extremely limited pressing of 200 copies.
Fabio Frizzi offers, “As soon as I finished recording the new study version of The Beyond: Composer’s Cut score, I had the urge to play with some themes, twisting them a bit and in a sense treating them as new things, like tracks that are born today. The result was absolutely extraordinary and unexpected.”
Decibel Magazine is now streaming one of the new singles, “Spiders Attack (Alternative Mix), writing with the premiere, “Man, Cadabra Records really is the (dark, fantastical, harrowing) gift that keeps on giving.”
