The old adage of everything old being new again is mostly true, especially in Hollywood. Case in point, Dark Shadows is being revived once again in sequel form this time. DARK SHADOWS: REINCARNATION tv series is on the way to the CW from Warner Bros. Television and Mark B. Perry, with some help from daughters of original creator Dan Curtis.
The show is being developed as an hour-long gothic horror drama based on the 1966 TV soap-opera. Perry will be executive producer along with Michael Helfant, Bradley Gallo and Tracy Mercer, along with Tracy Curtis and Cathy Curtis.
The reimagined show will be a modern-day continuation of the strange, terrifying, and sexy saga of the Collins family of Collinsport, Maine — a mysterious, influential, publicity-shy group hiding a ghastly secret: For the past 400 years, they’ve lived under a curse that bedevils their blue blood with every imaginable supernatural creature and horror. The show’s main character was the iconic vampire, Barnabas Collins, played by Jonathan Frid.
Personally, I’ve always been a fan of the Dark Shadows saga, even the 1991 reboot on NBC, so I’m hopeful that Mark B. Perry will do right by this show.
We’ll have more on this as it develops, so keep it right here to Horror Patch for all the latest.
