Zack Snyder To Direct His Passion Project – Zombie Horror Film, ARMY OF THE DEAD for Netflix!

Zack Snyder is back behind the director’s chair. He will be directing and producing, from his story, a zombie horror film. ARMY OF THE DEAD is one of his passion projects that he has promised will be unbridled and without constraints of a studio looking over his shoulder. The film will be for Netflix.

In Snyder’s last film, 2017’s Justice League, he had to leave the project in post-production because of a family tragedy. Sadly, his daughter committed suicide and he has been taking time off to be with his family. Snyder stated that for him, filmmaking is cathartic and he is ready to get back.

Snyder will direct and produce with his wife with their newly rebranded production company, Stone Quarry. The script is by Joby Harold, from a story by Snyder.

The film is set in the middle of a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas. A man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.

The film is set to start filming this Summer and will reportedly have a budget around $90 million.

Snyder said, “There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one. I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way, This is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself though a genre. It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].”

This sounds like a project we can really get into. I truly hope Snyder means what he says about making a kick-ass, no-holds-barred zombie flick. We’ll all be keeping our fingers crossed for this one.
