SDCC 2018: GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, Fans Are Treated To First Trailer!

Kaiju fans at the San Diego Comic-Con were treated to the very first trailer for the highly-anticipated GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. The trailer points out that Godzilla isn’t the only monster in our world, which includes Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.

Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Trick ‘r Treat) is the writer and director for the film which stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Ken Watanabe, Anthony Ramos and Zhang Ziyi.

During a panel at comic-con this past weekend, Dougherty says that, as the title suggests, Godzilla isn’t the only monster appearing in the film — and we see it in the trailer which reveals the story that centers on the dilemma of releasing these monsters or perishing. With that, comes a battle between the titular Godzilla and other iconic monsters including Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah — and that’s not all!

Plot Synopsis

The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

About Michael Juvinall (6926 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
