The legendary thrash metal legends SLAYER are calling it quits after 37 years. It’s a shitty deal for all fans but especially for those of us that have been listening to the band since day one, it really is a sad occasion. To know we won’t be getting any more new music from this band is hard to swallow, which is why their Final Farewell Tour is doing gangbusters business.
The band is currently in the middle of the first leg of their supposed Farewell Tour. When money is involved, nothing is certain. Other legs will see them head to Europe to give those fans one final look at the pioneering metal outfit.
On this particular night of Friday, May 25th, Slayer rolled into Tinley Park, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) along with the rest of the incredible lineup which included Lamb of God, Anthrax, Behemoth, and Testament.
To most in the metal community, this tour is the high point of the year, THE show to see above all else. The nearly sold-out crowd of 20,000 plus fans were in high spirits (in more ways than one) and clamoring to see Slayer for one last time. I have to say the buildup was worth the wait as it really was the high point of the year for metal fans and music fans alike. It was one hell of a show, all the way down the line, one not to be missed.
For those of you that weren’t able to make it to the show, I have show photos to show you all, along with live videos as well. I hope you enjoy.
