‘Autopsy Of Jane Doe’s’ André Øvredal To Direct SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK!

It was announced that The Autopsy Of Jane Doe helmer André Øvredal will direct the SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK film adaptation for CBS Films.

André Øvredal, the Norwegian helmer who directed The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Trollhunter, is set to direct Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark at CBS Films. Guillermo del Toro, who’s in the Oscar hunt with The Shape of Water, has stepped aside from his original plan to direct.

The film is based on the wildly successful trilogy of books by Alvin Schwartz, which included iconic illustrations by Stephen Gammell.

The thriller follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. Kevin Hageman and Dan Hageman (The Lego Movie) wrote the most recent draft based on the books.

Production will begin next summer.

This was a passion project for Del Toro, which is why he will remain on board as a producer.

More on this project as production begins and we’ll keep you all in the loop as new details develop!

About Michael Juvinall (6911 Articles)
I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
