THE WALKING DEAD Stops Production As Stuntman Killed On Set!

The Walking Dead cast and crew are mourning the death of stuntman John Bernecker as production on Season 8 comes to a halt while the accident is under investigation.

Bernecker reportedly fell 22 feet from a balcony onto a concrete floor, where it’s being reported that he missed the pads he was supposed to land on by mere inches. He was flown by medevac to an Atlanta hospital where he was pronounced brain dead some three hours later. His death is being investigated by OSHA and SAG-AFTRA but could take up to 6 months to complete.  No word yet on how long TWD producers and cable network intend to keep production shuttered.

“I have absolutely no words,” tweeted Amelio, the TWD actor who reportedly was on-set and sharing a scene when Bernecker fell to his death Wednesday. “My heart is absolutely broken…”

“You will be missed,” Reedus writes. TWD star Jeffrey Dean Morgan tweeted, “Deep sorrow today, and for every tomorrow.”

Jordan Peele, who hired Bernecker for stunt work on Get Out, tweeted, “He was so nice, so cool and great at his job.”

Bernecker’s credits also include the upcoming Black Panther as well as Logan, and The Fate of the Furious, Looper, among many others, and actors from series including Turn and 24: Legacy recall their friend’s work as their doubles.

Our thoughts and prayers are with John Bernecker’s family and friends as all of us at Horror Patch send our deepest condolences!

I am a devoted husband and father. I have been a voracious horror fan since the early age of 5 and metal fan since I was 14. I watch all horror films but my great loves are classic horror films: Universal Monsters, Werewolves, Hammer Horror and an all-around affinity for things that go bump in the night! I'm also a huge fan of extreme metal music.
