Universal Dates BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN For 2019!
In the second bit of Universal news today, it has been reported the studio has dated it’s next film in their newly branded Dark Universe as The Bride Of Frankenstein for February 14th, 2019.
What we know as of now is the director will be Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters) and Frankenstein’s monster will be Javier Bardem (No Country For Old Men).
David Koepp has been tasked to write the film.
Universal chairman Donna Langley described the project as the “story of a very modern woman in a very classic tale.” Universal said casting for the lead character, first played by Elsa Lanchester in the 1935 classic, will be announced soon.
Said Condon: “I’m very excited to bring a new Bride of Frankenstein to life on screen, particularly since James Whale’s original creation is still so potent. The bride of Frankenstein remains the most iconic female monsters in film history, and that’s a testament to Whale’s masterpiece, which endures as one of the greatest movies ever made.”
We’re keeping a very close eye on this franchise and will keep you updated as soon as news is announced!
