R.I.P. – Hammer Heroine Yvonne Monlaur
Sad news to report as we have received word that Hammer Films heroine Yvonne Monlaur has passed away. According to reports, she passed away on Tuesday, April 18th at the age of 78.
Yvonne was a successful French actress in both film and television during the 1950’s and 60’s. But it was her few trips into the horror genre that have endeared her to fans for all eternity.
She starred in the Hammer Film classic The Brides Of Dracula 1960 as Marianne Danielle, the object of the evil Baron Meinster’s affection. She also starred in 1960’s Circus Of Horrors along with Anton Differing and Donald Pleasence. Finally, she starred in the thriller Terror Of The Tongs in 1961 alongside Christopher Lee.
According to the Yvonne Monlaur official blog, her friend writes:
It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Yvonne Monlaur. She left us yesterday, Tuesday, April 18.
According to her wishes and those of her son Alexis, this blog will remain online to celebrate her memory.
For many film fans, she will forever remain the dazzling incarnation of the feminine charm of the sixties.
She will have blessed the Italian and fantastic cinema with a grace that, still today, delights all those who discover her films.Through the blog, international conventions and tributes, she found her audience again and saw new generations of fans come to meet her and applaud her.
Yvonne passionately loved life and others. And it is only natural that our working relationship during the writing of this blog has changed into a deep and sincere friendship.
Today, I can see how it is also its unique testimony. Her friend,
Jean-Luc Gagé

Nice photos. Yvonne Monlaur was beautiful in The Brides of Dracula. That’s the only film of hers that I have seen.
