Sad news to announce tonight as Trans-Siberian Orchestra is reporting their founder and leader Paul O’Neill has passed away at the age of 61.
Not much is known right now other than he passed away yesterday, April 4th from a chronic illness.
O’Neill was an American music composer, lyricist, producer, and songwriter.
The announcement came tonight via Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Facebook page:
The entire Trans-Siberian Orchestra family, past and present, is heartbroken to share the devastating news that Paul O’Neill has passed away from chronic illness.
He was our friend and our leader — a truly creative spirit and an altruistic soul. This is a profound and indescribable loss for us all.
We ask that you respect Paul’s family’s privacy now.
We will make additional announcements shortly.
In the 1970’s and 80’s O’Neill was a rock promoter who worked with the likes of Aerosmith, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Ted Nugent and more. Also in the 80’s he fell in with the Florida heavy metal band Savatage and began his relationship with Jon Oliva, Robert Kinkel, and Al Pitrelli.
O’Neill had a vision for Trans-Siberian Orchestra and they became collaborators to get TSO off the ground.
O’Neill was a visionary artist and his legacy will live on forever!
All of us here at Horror Patch would like to send our condolences to Paul O’Neill’s family and friends during this difficult time.
