Things seem to be shaping up well for the Godzilla sequel in 2019. Not only is an awesome director (Michael Dougherty – Trick ‘r Treat) attached to helm the movie but today brings news of the film’s star signing on.
It’s being reported that Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) has signed on to star in the film from Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros.. Chandler will join the previously cast Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things) on the production.
It is slated for release on March 22, 2019.
Michael Dougherty is directing from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields.
Plot details are being kept locked on a South Pacific island, but Chandler will play a scientist and father of Brown’s character. The role makes him ostensibly the hero of the movie.
The first film in the franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards and released in 2014, earned $529.1 million worldwide.
